Playing without an account
You do not need an account to play. On your first visit the site creates an anonymous account through Google Firebase Authentication: a random identifier with no personal information attached to it. It exists so your progress has somewhere to live.
If you sign in with Google
Signing in is optional. Its only purpose is to carry your progress between devices and let you pick a username. If you choose it, Firebase Authentication receives from your Google account:
- your name and profile picture, used as your display name in game;
- your email address, used only to recognise the same account when you sign in again.
Your email address is never shown to other players, never used to contact you, and never passed to anyone. There is no mailing list. Signing in gives the site no access to your Gmail, Drive, contacts or any other Google service.
What the game stores about your play
- Progress — which dates you have solved, which solutions you found, and your best times.
- Arena rounds — your moves and finishing time for live rounds you join.
- Username — if you pick one, it is reserved in a shared list so that two players cannot hold the same name.
- Timing data — kept in your own browser and used to spot implausible solve times on the leaderboards.
- Sound preference — kept in your browser only.
What other players can see
The arena and the daily leaderboards are public by design: anyone can see the display name and solve time of players in a round. Nothing else is published — not your email address, not your progress, not the anonymous identifier. If you would rather not appear, play outside the arena, or keep the random guest name instead of signing in.
Crash reports
If the page crashes, an automatic report is saved so the bug can be fixed. It contains the error and where in the code it happened, the address of the page you were on, your browser's user-agent string, and your account identifier. It is read only for debugging.
Cookies and tracking
The site sets no advertising cookies and no analytics cookies. It does not track you across other websites. The only things kept in your browser are the handful of preferences listed above, plus the sign-in token Firebase needs to keep you logged in.
Who processes the data
Hosting, sign-in and storage all run on Google Firebase (Google LLC), which processes this data on our behalf under Google's own privacy policy. There are no other processors, no advertising networks, and no data brokers. Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared for marketing.
